Rachelle Reath... Rachelle's interest in music began when she discovered the shower head could be used as a microphone. From singing her way across the country on many a family road trip, to sitting next to her great aunt at the piano bench, music has always been a constant in her life.

After a brief and impatient stint with the piano, Rachelle found her true passion in the violin. The first years of classical training proved to be a bit of an uphill battle which were accomplished with no shortage of family encouragement. However, the light truly went on for her musically when her fingers first tested the celtic fiddle waters. From her early teens onward, she has been involved in the the vibrant Victoria fiddling community and was a part of the Conservatory Fiddle Orchestra. To satisfy her desire to sing, she later took part in the Fairfield Gospel Choir which ignited her love for vocal harmonies.

A natural wanderer, Rachelle has travelled and shared music with many and feels inspired with every new tune she hears. Nowadays, she's trying out as many new things as she can: Writing, studying journalism, gardening, organic farming...and still singing in the shower.

Besides playing with the Backyard Stringband, Rachelle collaborates with Moss in their band, the Fields.

Jude Pelley... Born in Carbonear, Newfoundland, in 1975, and raised on the South Shore of Nova Scotia, folksinger and fretted string player Jude Pelley has had a colourful career in roots, acoustic and traditional music that spans fifteen years and a surprisingly eclectic collection of musical groups. From his early days as an electric guitarist with Celtic fusion group Celtika, through five years of touring and two East Coast Music Awards with bluegrass group Exit 13, through his work as instrumentalist and producer with critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Amelia Curran, and two live records with early music consort Ensemble a Part, his interest in acoustic music has taken him many places and opened many doors for him.

Currently based in Victoria, British Columbia, he runs Alone Stone Productions, a small-scale recording studio and production company, and participates in as many of the local acoustic music sessions as he can, in Canada's garden city.

Moss Dance... Growing things and playing music have always been focal points in Moss' life. Moss has been into music and farming since she was a child dancing in pink leotards and watering the garden with Mum. She remembers inventing songs on the piano and playing them over and over and over.

Moss saved up and bought her first guitar when she was 14 and began her journey into roots, blues and folk without even knowing what she was getting into. Five years of lessons with Mike Allen, a Burlington-based guitar teacher and roots musician blazed a path into the world of fingerstyle blues and folk.

Four years at Trent University in Native Studies and Environmental Studies and Moss' passion for organic farming overtook her life for awhile after growing up and moving out. Her journey from Ontario to the West Coast was an adventure in farming. While co-managing a market garden in Duncan, BC, manure-shovelling, posthole-digging and weed-pulling lead her to record her first solo CD, "Wealthy" at the Duncan Garage Showroom. "Wealthy" describes the struggles and ecstacies of an organic farmer with a broken but hopeful heart.

Now Moss lives in Victoria and spends her days getting dirty in the veggie garden at Sleeping Dog Farm & Retreat, playing music with friends and having beach adventures with Sticky the Wonderdog.
